LP Live at the Leon Loft
Performing at the Leon Loft on Friday, February 24th, LP’s soulful voice rang with a raw purity that captivated everyone in the audience. Accompanied by a myriad of instruments, she sang about break-ups and moving on. “I’m glad I got the experience because now I can tap into it,” the singer-songwriter said.
After recording a few albums in the early to mid-2000s, LP moved from her home in New York to Los Angeles to begin a songwriting career—penning songs for the likes of Cher, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, and even The Backstreet Boys. It wasn’t until 2012 though, that the artist returned to recording albums under her own name. LP’s 5-song EP Death Valley was released in June 2016 and quickly topped the charts all over Europe, while also achieving commercial success back home in the states.
“May 5, 2017 there will be an album [in the U.S.]. It’s rearing to go,” said LP, who also spoke to the Leon Loft audience about her affinity for collaborations and collecting inspiration.
“I collect all my stuff. I collect the little things that I’ve done—titles, lyrics, snippets, chords,” she explains. “All of these things are really useful. I’m glad to have experienced them all.”
